Steven is currently the General Manager of Hornsby Shire Council, which serves a diverse population in the northern suburbs of Sydney known as the Bushland Shire, who highly value sustainability and the preservation of natural assets. He has held this role since early 2018.
He is also currently the Chair of the Greater Western Sydney Leadership Forum.
Steven has worked in local government for most of his career including senior leadership roles at Warringah, Parramatta, Ku-ring-gai and Willoughby. Prior to his current appointment, Steven held a Senior Executive role at NSW Roads and Maritime Services where he oversaw the structural reorganisation of the agency which was needed to develop the long-term team capability of the Sydney road network.
He is a passionate supporter of the role of councils in improving local communities through innovative services, infrastructure improvements, and passive and active recreational opportunities – extending well beyond the delivery of roads, rates and rubbish, but certainly including waste.
